Altar and Rosary Society -
The primary purpose of the society is to praise and honor the Blessed Virgin, and to promote and aid the parish spiritually by performing activities for the care and well being of the Church, as well as cultivating camaraderie within our Parish Family and Community. At Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace and St. Veronica’s Parish we open the Altar & Rosary Society to all; our youth to seniors, women & men.
They also provide funds for special needs for the sanctuaries of our churches. We meet the second Sunday of every month after the last Mass at Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace Church. Contact Marge Unflat.
Knights of Columbus.
Imagine being part of an organization that fills your heart and mind with the joy of giving to others and the feeling that comes with making a difference.
Knights are practicing Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your local parish, while enhancing your own faith; it is about protecting and enhancing your family life.
All the good works we do are formed around our four core principles:
● Charity
● Unity
● Fraternity
● Patriotism
They meet every Third Wednesday of each Month at 7pm in the church auditorium. This group is comprised of men who live in the local area who have been initiated into the organization. Contact Joe Bouselli.

“Bag a Month” Food Collection Program
The
first full weekend of every month the Parish of Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of
Peace and St. Veronica sponsors a “Bag a Month” food collection program

non-perishable food items, we have the recyclable bags at the entrances
of both churches with the list of donations. On the first weekend of
each month volunteers will be at the Parish Center Building at Queen of
Peace before Masses on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning to accept
donations of food and at St. Veronica’s. If you would like to help us
with the program please call Jim Conrad @ 226-8170.

Music Ministry The job of the music ministry here at Queen of Peace and St Veronica's is to elevate and inspire the congregation through song. Through a cantor leading all in song, or a choir blending their voices to uplift all, there are opportunities to serve in this ministry. If you can sing in front of people, cantoring might be for you. If you like to sing but prefer to blend in and not stand out, the choir would like you to join us in our weekly celebration. If being at the 8.30 am every week is difficult for you, but you can make the regular rehearsals, the important events such as Christmas, Holy Week, and Confirmation which take more preparation can use extra voices to make the occasions inspirational and memorable. Please contact Fran at the Rectory at 226-3183 or Kevin at 352-6512 and let us know you're interested. Our rehearsals are Wednesday evening from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Queen of Peace, and our weekly Mass is the 8.30 am. At St. Veronica's the Mass is at 10:00am Sunday with rehearsals to be determined. There are choir and cantor opportunities at both churches. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults are classes for conversion or Confirmation. Contact the Rectory at parishsecretary@queenofpeacehawley.com for more information. Faith Formation Teachers are always welcome. Classes are held Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Without them the children would not have a strong Catholic Faith. Contact Mary Kennedy at the Youth Faith Formation Office for more information.

Bereavement Ministry are trained volunteers, who visit and support bereaved parish families during the first year of the loss. One of the most difficult times in the life of any family is the death of a loved one. This is not forgotten after the funeral. We, as a community of faith, know that our loved ones are in their eternal rest, though we mourn for our loved one and ourselves. The process of family healing may take a long time. Our ministers visit the family to explain the Funeral Rite and welcome their help to participate in the Rite in whatever way they are able. After the Funeral, ministers stay in contact with the family over the course of the first year through notes, phone calls, and/or visits. It is a ministry that fills a great need to the grieving members of our parish. Won’t you become part of this important ministry!!! On the road to Emmaus, Jesus (as bereavement minister) “ walked with” and “listened to” the mourners. All that is needed are two ears that can listen, a heart that is open to others, and you Qualify!!! You may Contact Rosemarie Mazzotta at 570 390-4196 or email roma0174@yahoo.com for more information.

Ministry of Ushers Ushers (ministers of hospitality) play a crucial role in the Church because they are so visible. The attitude, conduct and appearance of an usher could directly affect, either positively or negatively, the experience of the faithful at Mass. These are some of the basic duties of an usher: ● Ensure that collection baskets, bulletins and any other handouts are in the proper place before Mass ● Greet people as they enter the church ● Attend to newcomers and the disabled if needed ● Assist the people with seating when necessary ● Take up the collection(s) ● Select people to present the gifts ● Help maintain order at Communion ● Open the church doors and the end of Mass For more information contact Gary Beilman talk to one of the ushers after a weekend Mass or email parishsecretary@queenofpeacehawley.com .

Tuesday Morning Quilt-ers. Our ministry is a gathering of faith and fellowship. Each Tuesday the team assembles downstairs in the church Auditorium to layout the fabrics that will be used for the day. We are looking for volunteers to join us – no sewing experience is necessary – we are happy to teach those that are willing to help. We sew blankets and fabric pieces to create sleeping bags which are then donated to a shelter in Scranton. Inside each sleeping bag we include a shirt and pants; a quart size Ziploc bag with travel sized toiletries that include a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, lotion and a comb. Our goal is to produce (4) bags each Tuesday. Our ministry was started 19 years ago and we have produced over 3556 sleeping bags since! Some of us start as early as 7:00 am – but all are welcome to start at any time they can. We normally begin to leave between 10:00 am and 11:00 am. You are flexible to help out as little or as much as your schedule allows. We also knit and crochet hats and scarves that are included in the sleeping bags during the winter. We also donate hats, scarves and blankets to St. Joseph’s. We are always seeking donations of items to go into the toiletry bags, quart sized Ziploc bags, sheets, comforters, pieces of fabric to make the bags; men’s ties to create the straps for the sleeping bag; fresh new socks, tee shirts, sweatpants to include with the bag. Please leave items in the Church Auditorium. As soon as you enter the Auditorium (basement), our storage room door is on the right, you may leave items there for us to use on Tuesday mornings. Contact the Rectory at parishsecretary@queenofpeacehawley.com for more information.

Eucharist Adoration Ministry, First Friday Adoration
If you want Jesus to come into your heart then follow the way to his heart and spend time with him. One way is during First Friday Adoration of the Eucharist.
“Could you not watch one hour with Me?”
Jesus waits for us in the Blessed Sacrament. He waits for our little Acts of faith, adoration, love, thanksgiving, repentance, reparation and charity that we can offer Him as we contemplate—His Divine Majesty– in the Blessed Sacrament. Please call Catherine Hansen at 570 226-9281 for First Friday Eucharist Adoration.
